ABOUT ABOUT

Breakthrough Workshop Theatre presents

LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE
Written by Nora Ephron & Delia Ephron
Directed by Heidi Maretz

A play of monologues and ensemble pieces about women, clothes and memory covering all the important subjects—mothers, prom dresses, mothers, buying bras, mothers, hating purses and why we only wear black. Based on the bestselling book by Ilene Beckerman, The New York Times described the play as "Funny, compelling…Brought down the house…but [the play] is not a comedy: A story about black cowboy boots becomes a sad tale of being underappreciated in a relationship; a tale of two women shopping for their wedding outfits ends bittersweetly; and the recollection of a new bra is a quiet testament to a women's search for dignity while undergoing treatment for breast cancer."

A hit that played Off-Broadway for years, it not only fits into BWT's Season 8 theme of “Grief / Empathy / Hope,” but it will be the 5th project in BWT history to feature an all-female cast and creative team.  It will be directed by Breakthrough Icon Heidi Maretz (who has particiapted in over 20 BWT projects), and will feature an ensemble of 11 women including both of Heidi's fellow Breakthrough Icons Terri Bratcher and Katie Caldwell and returning Breakthrough Artists Shellina HefnerSophie MaretzJade MoujaesLori Muhlstein and Karen Quinones, as well as Victoria CatlettSierra McMurtryApril Mosebrook and Char Sivertson in their BWT debuts.

This workshop is made possible in part due to a generous grant from San Diego LGBT Pride and is being presented free of charge for one performance only at the beautiful La Jolla Riford Library.
